How to get started. I have this great idea — do a blog on the joys of aging. But, I’m completely stopped. I’m not stopped because I can’t think of what to write – I have lots of ideas. I’m not stopped because I don’t think it’s a great idea — we really need a lot of joy as we age. I’m stopped because I’m afraid of the internet — afraid of messing up. What if I hit the wrong thing and my computer gets taken over by Russian spies!!!!
I can’t believe I’m afraid of technology — wow! In 1963 I talked my boss into installing a phone system that automatically dialed phone numbers – in the 70’s I had my own electronic typewriter (that was pre pc). In 1984 I started doing online banking. That was before there was an internet. I had an electronic PDA before anyone heard of a PalmPilot or a PDA. I used a computerized calendar and organization system (Compaq/Ipaq) before most people even knew how to turn on a computer. I even understood DOS. What happened?
I’m intimidated by Facebook. I’ve been afraid to call Network Solutions to get the password for the blog site I bought. I bought it because I didn’t trust I could figure out how to use the free blog sites. And now I’m afraid to call about how to use the site I paid a fortune for because I think I’ll mess it up. Go figure.
I was adventuress in my 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and even 50’s. Now I’m in my 60’s and all of a sudden I’m being careful — who is this person????. Since this blog is about the JOY of aging, I’m going to find the joy in discovering who I am now that life has led me here.
